Project Description
The Lebanese American University (LAU) in Jbeil launched a 1MW solar project as part of its energy sustainability efforts. The system comprises 2,000 solar panels, each rated at 580Wp, delivering a total capacity of 1MW.
Design & Engineering:
- The system was designed by Butec Group under the consultancy of PDP (Pierre Damous & Sons), ensuring optimal system performance and compliance with electrical and structural standards.
Civil Works:
- Bakkour Group was responsible for all civil works, including land grading, foundations, and the complete construction of the MV Room.
- The MV Room houses the inverters, transformer, Ring Main Unit (RMU), and all required protections—critical for safe operation and grid integration.
Installation:
- Installation of 3x150mm² MV cables on custom green steel welded towers designed and manufactured in-house by Bakkour Group.
- Electrical terminations and joint kits for full MV connectivity.
Commissioning:
- Final system testing and commissioning was performed by Butec Group, ensuring operational readiness and full compliance with grid requirements.
- The plant is now active and supplying clean energy to LAU’s infrastructure.

With a strong commitment to safety, we execute overhead cable routing across our towers for LV, MV, and HV lines, adhering to the highest industry safety protocols at every stage of the process.
We fully construct and equip Medium Voltage Rooms, integrating transformers, Ring Main Units (RMUs), and electrical panel boards. These ground-mounted stations are built to ensure optimal performance and reliability in power distribution networks.
Bakkour Group fabricates and installs Pole-Mounted Stations, complete with mounted transformers, cut-out fuses, and surge arresters. Our systems are engineered for efficient space utilization and resilient field operation.
From excavation to cable laying, we prepare underground pathways using excavators and coring machines where necessary, ensuring minimal surface disruption and maximum cable protection.
We install and configure Low Voltage Panels for factories, residential zones, and commercial premises. This includes the integration of Net Metering and Digital Metering systems, helping clients optimize consumption and monitor energy use effectively.
